South Eastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA)

Emcom has had a continuing relationship with the Southeast Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) for the past decade, starting with an EmVista system to route calls from analog Emergency Call Boxes (ECBs) on rail platforms to a Transit Police response center at SEPTA headquarters. The Emcom solution included controls to set the ECBs to “blast mode” so Transit Police could use them as a public address system.

Emcom upgraded the system as part of SEPTA’s New Payment Technologies (NPT) initiative, to add routing calls from additional analog phones of different models to one or more NPT response centers, depending on a schedule, and integrating the audio with SEPTA’s Genetec video system.
